Patient Assistance Program

The Louisiana Hemophilia Foundation (LHF) Financial Assistance Program is part of LHF’s continuing effort to improve the quality of life of individuals and families affected by bleeding disorders. This program provides funds to eligible individuals and families who need assistance with expenses incurred in the care, treatment, or prevention of a bleeding disorder.

Medical ID Program

LHF strive to see every individual with a bleeding disorder have a Medical ID along with membership services in the event of an emergency. LHF will provide this service to you at no cost.

What is a Medical ID?
A Medical ID is jewelry that contains lifesaving information such as medical conditions, allergies, medications, and more.

A simple item like an emergency bracelet or medical ID necklace can reduce unnecessary hospital admissions, prevent minor emergencies from becoming life threatening events and provide peace of mind for loved ones.

The Benefits of a Medical ID
Medical IDs save lives. Chronic conditions, mental illness, food or drug allergies, and disability can easily be misdiagnosed. In an emergency when time is critical and every second counts, medical ID jewelry can effectively advocate for your health and safety. Medical IDs speak for you when you can't.

Half of all medical errors occur because of mistakes made upon admission or discharge from the hospital. Wearing a medical ID bracelet or necklace protects against potentially harmful medical errors.

LHF Scholarship Program

Louisiana Hemophilia Foundation offers scholarships to people who apply and meet the following requirements:

Individuals with a diagnosed bleeding disorder
Parents of minor children with a bleeding disorder.
Pursuing any type of post-secondary vocational, trade, or college degree
Attending school in Louisiana
Louisiana resident
Maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA (and provide proof at end of semester)
Complete a minimum of eight (8) volunteer hours in service to LHF

There are varying levels of scholarship awarded per semester, depending on fund availability.
